One of the most common applications for extrusion is in-line adhesive and and cutting to length. Foam adhesive systems help build-up material size if needed and allow adhesives to conform to uneven surfaces. From inexpensive rubber and hot melt systems, to the most advanced acrylic engineering grade systems and heat activated systems, Thermoprene can meet the specifications of most any design. Many adhesive systems can be applied in line with the extrusion material. Some materials however, need to cure for 24 hours or more before adhesives can be applied. We have secondary processing and winding equipment, and make use of primers and other accessories when required. Thermoprene has the capabilities to help you with all your Fabrication projects.

The control panel cover shown in the attached photo is produced in many configurations for custom electronics manufacturing. The basic extrusion is the same for all parts, but various windows are machined in the face to accept toggle switches, fasteners, numerical displays, gauges and snap in bezels. The parts are machined to length for a close tolerance fit and squareness. Each part is assembled with threaded inserts in each screw boss for rapid assembly at the final destination. As with enclosures, this type of extrusion application affords the design team flexibility in terms of size, color and electronics configuration. Extrusion lends itself well to producing these type of machining blanks, where low start up and tooling costs, and shorter lead times, are big advantage over injection molding. Thermoprene is confident they can help you in any of your Fabrication needs.

Many parts produced by other means such as casting, investment casting, forging, impact extrusion, stamping, etc. can be originally conceived or converted to extrusion. This part is a perfect example of a component originally designed for fabrication. This profile is a combination of a channel and tube extruded together. The tube section interfaces with a splinted shaft and mounts to a large flange assembly through the channel section. Even at fairly large volume, the blanks produced by aluminum extrusion and cut to length, are less expensive than could be produced by another means. The profile surfaces are all ready for installation, and any of the drilling, radii and tumbling are need for secondary work. Thermoprene is confident they can help you in any of your Fabrication needs.

Sponge rubber is commonly used in die cut applications in the manufacture of non-slip pads, feet, and gasketing applications. Many gaskets and other sponge rubber items are produced with pressure sensitive adhesive systems (PSA), and may be put up in sheets, rolls or individual peel and stick units for inclusion to the end user. Most materials are closed cell, meaning that their cell structure is complete and each cell is isolated. This prevents absorption of water and also gives the material better physical properties for most applications. EPDM and Neoprene are most common, but various forms of polyethylene foams are also available. Open cell materials can be used for absorbent and filtering applications. Polyurethane is most common and is available in fine and coarse cell structures for different applications. Thermoprene is confident they can help you in any of your Fabrication needs.
