Thermoprene manufactures and stocks Containment Boom Connectors for floating boom containment systems. Boom Connectors are extruded from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, and fabricated to standard 24″ lengths and with two spring pin holes per the ASTM standard section 4.7.2. Fabric backing plate is configured to mate with our standard bolt-hole pattern. Standard material is mill finish (as extruded) and can be anodized per customer request. Standard connectors are self-mating (neither male or female) and universal (neither left-hand or right-hand).

Connecter and Backer Plate are produced to meet ASTM F2438-04. They are designed to be compatible with other existing connection profiles, including “Z” Connector and the Light Duty Mini-Slide Connectors. Customer is responsible for verifying compatibility.

Containment boom connectors are used to join multiple containment booms together, forming a continuous barrier, commonly referred to as a turbidity curtain, around an area. Containment booms are floating barriers that are deployed in water bodies to contain, deflect, or redirect spilled oil, debris, or other pollutants. They are made of oil-resistant materials and are usually constructed with a series of air-filled chambers, which make them buoyant and enable them to float on the surface of the water. Containment booms act as passive barriers or containment curtains, slowing down the spread of pollutants, and allowing time for cleanup efforts to be organized. They are an essential tool in spill response operations, protecting marine ecosystems, and mitigating the impact of pollution on coastal communities. In addition to the standard containment boom, other types of booms exist for specific applications, such as turbidity control, trash and debris removal, and wildlife protection from seaweed, sargassum, and other marine vegetation.
