Thermoprene offers taping in most Rubber and Plastic extruded items as needed. Adhesion properties of different material make selection critical in the extrusion design phase. Typically, we employ acrylic and rubber-based adhesives from the top manufacturer’s, including 3M, Tesa, etc. 3M’s “HATS” system is particularly effective with permanent bonding to rubber compounds. In plastics and particularly flexible compounds, “plasticizer migration” can be a significant problem if the correct materials and production techniques are not followed, resulting in potential product failure.
