<p>Oostburg High School’s ROV Team has been making waves in the world of STEM education, and their dedication to innovation and learning has truly impressed us. As a company specializing in custom manufacturing and supplying plastic, aluminum, and rubber extrusions, we recognize the significance of empowering the next generation of engineers and problem solvers.</p>

<p>When we first learned about Oostburg High School’s passion for robotics and their ambitious ROV project, we knew we had to get involved. While we typically focus on bulk orders for plastic frames, we were genuinely moved by their determination and vision for their ROV. It was an easy decision for us to support them with one of our custom made 1.5 in x 1.5 in plastic quad rail frames.</p>

<p>In our partnership with Oostburg High School’s ROV Team, we took great pride in not only providing the essential materials but also covering all the costs associated with manufacturing and shipping the frame. We believe that investing in STEM education is an investment in the future, and we are thrilled to contribute to such a worthy cause.</p>

<p>Oostburg High School ROV team plowed through the regional competition on April 30, 2023 in Milwaukee, MI, and moved onto the international competition in Longmont, CO on June 22-24<sup>th</sup>. This was the team’s third year in a row to move onto the international competition. Judges awarded the Engineering MVP Award to one of the team’s software engineers. They were one of six recipients awarded this honor out of over 60 teams.</p>

The business specializes in automotive interiors, manufacturing fabric for seats and headliners.

<strong>Problem</strong>
In the production process, the adhesive must be heated so workers can laminate the vehicle headliner with the select fabric. Given the caustic nature of the adhesive, the burner bodies were expected to wear out. Unfortunately, they didn’t last nearly as long as the company preferred. The two-part construction design of the burner bodies allowed the corrosive adhesive to leak through too quickly. As a result, the component had a shorter lifespan, driving up replacement costs.

<strong>Solution</strong>
Thermoprene created a new, one-piece aluminum extrusion for the burner body, a critical part of lamination machine. Each burner body unit costs less than the old version and lasts twice as long, generating a significant cost savings for the customer who continues to buy replacement products because of the high quality of the aluminum extrusion.

<strong>Heating &amp; Cooling Custom Extrusions</strong>
Company: Air Conditioning Manufacturer
The business manufactures commercial air conditioners, energy recovery solutions and other equipment.

<strong>Problem</strong>
As it prepared to introduce a new commercial air conditioner, the business set out to get the most efficient thermal breaks for their doors.

<strong>Solution</strong>
Thermoprene reviewed the preliminary design and offered new ideas to enhance the overall performance and streamline the extrusion process used to build these units. Working with the customer, Thermoprene developed a custom aluminum extrusion to accommodate the thermal break.
