Santoprene Extrusion, or TPR materials have the unique ability to behave like rubber, but are processed like plastic. Thermoplastic rubber (TPR) and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are groups of materials which, as their names indicate are processed as thermoplastics. They can be colored, processed and reprocessed with varying degradation. Actual rubber compounds such as EPDM, Neoprene, SBR and Silicone on the other hand, are vulcanized and cross-linked when processed, and cannot be effectively reprocessed. While they can be colored, it is a specialized and expensive compounding process. Thermoprene has the ability to help you in any of your plastic extrusion projects.
